The make-up find: €2.99 Calvin Klein make-up.

A little while ago, A. and I went out for some ice-cream. When our sweet treats were all gone, we went to stroll about in the town's centre. Whilst browsing through Blokker, we made an awesome discovery: Calvin Klein make-up, for €2.99 per item!
We figured it had to be genuine Calvin Klein make up since fake item are forbidden so a chain store wouldn't risk selling them. Turns out we were right! The make up is genuine, but it's cheap because it's an old collection. In any case, the products look beautiful in those little pots!

PerBlan tooth powder review: mint vs lemon.

One hundred, that's the number of this post! Since the most viewed post of all is the PerBlan tooth powder review, I figured it be nice to make the 100th one related to that.

Recently I repurchased the tooth powder, but I got the lemon version to see if there's any I like better.
So here's a comparison of the two.

The longest lasting lipstick: Barry M Touch of Magic.

I'm a fan of bright lispticks, but when I spotted this one I was intrigued.

New makeup stores.

On Saturday, my friend A. and I spent the day in Leuven. and we made a few new beauty store discoveries that day. She mentioned something about MAC coming to Belgium, but I said they're already here. I knew there are MAC-stores in Antwerp, Wijnegem and Brussels and Ghent, but then we spotted a shop window with a giant sticker saying that MAC is coming soon. Apart from this I made a few more discoveries of beauty stores that have opened recently in Leuven and Hasselt.

Rita Ora for Rimmel London: pillow talk.

Since rediscovering a pastel green polish a little while ago, I've been wanting a pastel blue one too. So when I saw the Rita Ora for Rimmel nail polishes pass by on the internet, it was the shade pillow talk that caught my eye. I decided to pick up and here's a review.

Favourite fake tan: St. Moritz Mousse.

It's this time of the year again in which we transition from trousers and tights to shorts, skirts and bare legs. I like to apply a fake tan to my legs as not to blind anyone with their light-reflecting properties. Okay, it's not that bad, but you get the idea.
My favourite fake tan is is St. Moritz Mousse in medium and I decided to show its effect by tanning one leg and keeping the other as a control so you can see the difference in the same lighting conditions.

Henna hair: results.

So after going through the hassle of henna-dying and waiting for my hair to dry up already, I was eager to see the results. Before showing all the photos you should know that your hair will smell a bit like henna for a while. The scent was less strong this time than it was the first time - when I used double the amount of henna. And I assume the scent will disappear faster if you wash your hair more frequently. Now let's move on to the photos.

Henna hair: how I hennaed.

In this post I'll tell you in detail how I hennaed my hair. The way I henna is sort of a combination of a full application and a gloss, meaning that I use a lot of henna, and I leave it in my hair for a long time, but I add conditioner to my mix as well. Because of that my method is not an all natural one, but you could simply leave the conditioner out if you like. Anyhow there are three sections here: mixing, applying, and rinsing.

Henna hair: about henna.

If you're into natural products, henna may be up your street! I'd been wanting to try dying my hair with henna for a long time, and last autumn, I finally went for it! By now it has faded and grown out a lot, so it was high time for a touch-up! In this and the next few posts I'll be sharing some info, my experience, and results.

Natural skincare: cleansing.

I have never had great skin, and unfortunately I still don't. But all the cleansers, creams and toners that I've tried in the past didn't make any difference for my skin. I still use a few products such as a day cream with spf, a scrub and a serum when I need them. But for the purpose of cleansing my skin I use three natural 'products' now.

NOTD: Greenish.

Good morning!
As a close to the nail themed week, here's a nail of the day.

Saturday 19 April 2014

Make nail varnish dry quicker.

I am always clumsy when it comes to freshly painted nails. the varnish is usually damaged before it has even dried up properly. A good top coat should be of help here, but I don't have a good one. So apart from having the patience of a saint, here's what I do in my pursuit for smoothly polished nails.

Easter nails: a chick and polka dots.

When A. and I were painting our nails together, we were looking at some colour combinations. But when I pointed out that my yellow varnish was very Easter like, she said that I could paint eyes an a beak on it so it looks like a chick. And so I did!

Spring nails: Pistachio Ice Cream.

I don't have many pastel nail varnishes, so when I wanted to give it a try last year, I got myself an MUA £1 nail polish. I picked the shade Pistachio Ice Cream which is a pale green.

Monday 14 April 2014

NOTD: Gold & Brown.

As you may know by now I like to paint my nails in more than one colour at a time. After a bit of nail painting with my friend A., I figured these two varnishes would make a good combo, and I still think they do.

An old favourite: Essence blush stain.

It's rather rare for me to use up a make-up product. And I haven't used up this one yet, but I thought I'd write about it before I do. The product I'm talking about is the Essence NATventURista blush stain. It was part of a limited edition collection which was sold in September and October 2011.
It's almost empty now and here's why I love it so much.

Nail art for dummies #3.

Last weekend I decided to paint my nails and I did another attempt at "nail art". This is very much of a challenge for me. I think I just have bad fine motor skills since my handwriting is horrendous too and I cannot cut straightly with scissors. So it didn't turn out as well as I hoped for, but here it is.

Seven scents: Puma Fragrance.

In the get to know me tag I did some time ago, I said that I have a favourite perfume brand. It all started many, many years ago: I read a short piece on the Puma Women limited edition in a magazine. I believe it was a perfume brought out for the world cup - football that is, not quidditch! It had a description of the notes and it sounded like a nice scent. So the next time I passed by an Ici Paris store, I went in for a sniff and the next thing I knew, I was buying myself a perfume for the first time ever.
I love many of the fragrances they bring out and they are very affordable. Consequently, as the years passed by, my collection has grown. Here they are in the order in which I think I got them:

Spring lips: Colour bomb.

Since spring has sprung, I wanted to show you my favourite lipstick for spring! I like bright lipstick in general, but this one is just the perfect colour for spring in my opinion. It is a lipstick by Catrice from a limited edition they did a few years back called Revoltaire: the velvet matt lip colour in colour bomb.

Eye of the day: red.

Last Sunday, as I was doing my make-up, I decided to go for something a bit different than my usual neutral shades. I went for a red shade and hoped I wouldn't end up looking like a clown.
